The road less traveled by the majority of Barbadian singer songwriters is the route taken by Modern roots reggae artist David Kirton, over 10 years in the Barbados music industry and still no Soca song.
With his fourth album 'Time For Change' it would seem that his steady course of recording and releasing what has been described by international press as a unique hybrid of reggae, pop and rock is finally paying off for this green eyed, dread locked Barbadian. Bird's Eye Music has secured a distribution and promotion deal for Kirton's 'Time for Change' album in Canada with Universal Music. The promotional campaign is being lead by Soul Kiss Music's, Brian La Roche. Kirton's three music videos including BMA video of Year 08, Green Camouflage, and Time for Change directed by 2 time Pulitzer Winner, Tom Krueger are part of Universal promotional video compilations and soon will in rotation at Foot Locker stores and other plasma screens in Malls through out Canada. The lead single 'Time for Change' has been added to rotation on Canada's top radio stations including Mix FM , CIFX-FM, CHUM, CFBT, Z103 and very recently Flow 93.5 for their Barbados day celebration. Kirton has made the Inside Pace Makers List at Universal Urban Promo Canada. Time for Change album release date is July 22nd an will culminate with a LIVE acoustic performance and interview on MTV Much Music. Kirton will be in Canada for over a week conducting a support tour for the album release including interviews on numerous radio stations, Clip Trips, Sun TV, WE Magazine and That Radio.
