Stranger - RAS Records one page described Stranger, David Kirton's 1998 debut album as "a spirited mix of lovers rock and roots rhythms with his refreshingly sweet and original vocal sound. His incredibly smooth delivery has an exotic tinge that at times can be downright enticing." Stranger was first released in 1998 by Bird's Eye Music Barbados and was licensed in 1999 by RAS Records. Stranger is a collection of twelve songs Kirton composed and wrote in his seaside wooden house on Barbados's breezy South Coast, home to the windsurfers. Chris Allman Slam City Studios Barbados produced Stranger and Mikey Bennett from Grafton Studio's Jamaica produced the vocals

Patricia Meschino wrote in a Sky Writings review 'Rare is it to find a new artist you love form the first track on a CD, but David Kirton is right on target. His debut Stranger is a resounding celebration of the art of good music and how sweet it is. Kirton's job is to make you dance and he is very good at it." Jamaica embraced the album; Howard Campbell Weekend Observer's entertainment headline said "Bajan Singer, David Kirton delivers the real stuff on debut album". In a complimentary review Campbell went on to say, "with its live feel and chunky rhythms Stranger is the type of record Jamaican producers have seemingly forgotten how to make." AP Reporter John Swensen called, Show me your loving, 'the kind of fully realized pop gem that Michael Jackson wishes he could still write".

When it came time to record his second album he went straight to the reggae source, Jamaica. This new collection of ten songs, produced by Mikey Bennett, Grafton Studios highlights David's 'silky vocals and rocking beats' that were called 'a critics delight' by Howard Campbell.

Mikey Bennett has captured the essence of David's Barbadiana while incorporating the Reggae mystic that gives Jamaica its heartbeat, working with Kirton to release the melodies swirling in his head. Writing collaborations between Bennett and Kirton and David's own songs elicit vivid imagery and emotions. Many of the songs for this new album are 'Live' recordings done in either Grafton Studio or The Marley Hope Road Studio using some of the best musicians Jamaica has to offer.
